Mother's Day Wisdom from Tory Burch
Every time we are at Chicago, we visit the Fashion Outlet and we would go directly to Tory Burch. Most of the time the store is full of customers, and there would be a line to get in to control the crowd.
Behind the brand is a very successful mom- Tory Burch herself.
According to Wikipedia, after graduating from University of Pennsylvania, Tory moved to New York City where she worked for Zoran, a Yugoslavian designer, followed by Harper's Bazaar magazine. She then moved into public relations and advertising positions at Vera Wang, Polo Ralph Lauren and Loewe.
Tory had a job offer to be the president of conglomerate of the fashion brands: Christian Dior, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton in 2001. Having two kids and pregnant at that time, she turn downed the career opportunity of a lifetime.
Just after 3 years in February 2004 she launch her fashion label at a small retail store at Nolita district in Manhattan. I guess it's the name Tory Burch --- there is something to it that catch every shopper's attention --- quite intriguing really --- or she have a great product --- or just plain good marketing that on the first day most of the inventory was sold out. Then, Oprah Winfrey endorsed her line on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April 2005, and the rest is history for the billion dollar American company who is competing against the European luxury fashion moguls.
Here are the words of wisdom from Tory to all the hardworking and loving moms out there:
"Ambition can mean being a stay-at-home mom. It's not necessarily about work. It's about having the confidence to live your life the way you choose to."
Tory wanted to give back and support women entrepreneurs, and for this reason the Tory Burch Foundation was born in 2009.
