Of Mother and Of Beautiful Life Lived

Life is a journey…

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Mama had a life well lived. She had her share of happiness and sadness. She had endured challenges and overcome.. and lived a beautiful life. Mama is a simple person yet had bigger dreams and goals for her children and family. She raised her children all the way to college as a single mother after dad passed at an early age. She’s tough yet she’s a gentle mother in all her ways. She’s weak yet strong beyond imagination even herself doesn’t know.  She thinks she’s shy yet she’s a friend to everyone around her.

Mama is teacher by profession yet her best teaching job is teaching us great values in life. She taught us the value of love (love of family and for others), the value of friendship, the value of generosity, the value of education and more than anything, the value of simplicity and humility.

Mama thinks she is lucky to have the opportunity to come to America. But I say, we are very lucky to have her in our lives especially here in America.

She helped my sister and I raised our children.  She’s been a great and loving grandmother.

She adored my children and all her grandchildren. And beyond the 7 children she raised, she continued on with making sure her grandchildren not only have great education but have strong morals and faith in God.

Mama likes gardening. She has a green thumb that whatever she sticks to the ground grows.  She planted almost every fruit trees and flowers around my house.

Mama is like a flower in the garden and God picked this beautiful flower to give to us beauty of  her heart not just for her family but for everyone she knows.

Mama loves to read and write. Her major in college is English Literature. She loves to write poems.

If she could write a poem now, I’m sure it will go this way:

It’s called…. I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free;
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
If my parting has left a void;
then fill it with remembered joy.
My life’s been full, I savored much;
good friends, good times,
a loved one’s touch.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me;
God wanted me now, He set me free.

There’s a saying that says, “Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever”

No one can take the place of our dear Mother.

Mama, I love you and we will miss you.
